A Brief History of the Anglo-Saxons
by Geoffrey Hindley
For those still researching Anglo-Saxon history for their presentation papers this book, which was published in 2006, is well worth considering as reference book.
It covers a period from the 4th Century through to the 11th Century, i.e., from the demise of the Romans to the ascendancy of the Normans.
Historian Geoffrey Hindley shows the Anglo-Saxons as influential in the history not only of England but also of Europe.
There are many interesting maps, chronology, and genealogy, of the Royal House of Cerdic / Wessex / England, which should help those researching to understand the family tree of Alfred, Edward, Athelstan, Aethelflaed, etc.
There is also considerable time spent on the relationship between the Church and the Crown and their respective influences both at home and abroad.
In my opinion it is well worth having a “peruse”.
